Welcome, and What This Blog Is For

We are building Parental Guardians to do two things that families usually handle with separate tools, or with no tools at all. The first is coordinating care for an aging parent. The second is catching financial fraud before the money is gone.

This is where we will write about both.

What we will publish

Reference material. Plain explanations of things most families never need to understand until suddenly they do: what elder financial abuse looks like, how a scam is put together, what to do in the first two days after one. These are written to be saved and returned to, and we will update them as scams change.

Build notes. What we shipped, and more usefully, why we picked one design when another was the obvious choice. Some of these decisions will turn out to be wrong. Writing them down means you can see that happen instead of finding a quietly edited page later.

Common patterns. The problems that come up again and again for families in this situation: the task nobody picked up because it was never assigned, the medication change that never reached the sibling doing weekly visits, the one person absorbing all the work while everyone else assumes it is handled. These are problems with how the work is organized, not personal failings, and naming them clearly is most of the fix.

Timely pieces. Seasonal reminders when there is something worth doing, rather than a calendar hook for its own sake.

What we will not publish

Invented statistics. If we give a number, it comes from a named source and we will say which one. If we cannot source it, we will make the argument without it. An unsourced figure is worse than no figure, especially on a topic where it is easy to make people afraid.

Made-up customer stories. Any pattern we describe here is drawn from how these situations generally work, and we will say so. We will not write a testimonial that did not happen.

Fear used to sell. The subject supplies enough worry on its own. Turning up the volume to sell a subscription would be a bad trade for everyone, us included.
